Do you know what the loudest sound in the world is?
Although it may have a completely subjective value and because much depends on the instruments with which they are measured and the place of measurement, according to a ranking of the loudest sounds, it seems that the record is related to a celestial object, namely the meteorite impact at Tunguska in Russia that occurred in 1908.
This impact has been estimated at about 300 dB, and given that the sound level of a normal conversation is between 60–70 dB and that of traffic reaching 85 dB, one can only imagine the noise caused back in June in the vicinity of Tunguska.
Considering that prolonged exposure to levels of 90 dB and above can cause permanent damage to hearing, in second place of the loudest noises in the world, we find those of the earthquake, on 230 dB, while in third place a one-ton TNT bomb also immits 210 dB.
It is followed in fourth place by the blue whale call with about 188 dB and in fifth place by the eruption of the Krakatoa volcano, which in 1883, also…
